Manchester city is planning to spen £30m For Tottenham Midfielder Luka Modric

City looks to price out Chelsea and Manchester United as pursuit of Luka Modric

Manchester City are planning to bid £30 million for Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric in an attempt to beat their rivals to the Croatian’s signature, according to the Daily Mail.
The bid is a significant improvement on the £22m offered by Chelsea for the 25-year-old earlier in the week, a fee branded ‘ridiculous’ by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp who, along with chairman Daniel Levy, remains adamant that Modric will not be leaving White Hart Lane this summer.
Negotiations between the two clubs have reportedly already taken place, with a £30m bid expected to be tabled in the coming days.
A fee close to £35m may eventually be needed to prize Modric away from north London, and although Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to maintain a firm interest with counter offers, the financial clout of City may mean their competitors are priced out of the market.
Despite only bagging four goals last season, the Croatian put in a number of notable performances in both the Champions League and Premier League, and whilst he has insisted he is happy at Tottenham, he has yet to rule out a move away from the club.
