Boxing day Barclays Premier League results



Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool were held to a draw while Manchester United thrashed Wigan Athletic to go level on points with league leaders Manchester City


Chelsea 1-1 Fulham
Scorers:

Chelsea came from two back to back draws for facing Fulham side who are known as very poor travellers. AVB started Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard in place of Didier Drogba and Ramires. Chelsea took the lead through a brilliant strike by Juan Mata after Fulham levelled with a wonderful skill from Bryan Ruiz setting up Dempsey for the goal. Chelsea sit in 4th position behind Tottenham and Spurs have two games in hand.

Manchester United 5-0 Wigan Athletic

Wigan:

Manchester United thrashed their opponents Wigan Athletic 5-0 at Old trafford in a one sided affair. Manchester United started with Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia in the back four and Wayne Rooney on the bench with Berbatov starting. Berbatov grabbed a hat trick after Wigan striker Conor Sammon was sent off for an elbow on Michael Carrick. An easy win for the champions see them level on points with Manchester City and at 2nd place with a goal difference of 5.


Liverpool 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

The game was dominated by the Kop throghout, but they failed to take their chances. Blackburn got ahead from a Charlie Adam own goal resulting from a corner. Maxi Rodriguez eqaulised in the 2nd half with a header from the cross of Downing. Blackburn's hero of the day was the goal keeper Mark Bunn, who stopped a last minute header from Andy Car
rol before Skrtel's effort was cleared off the line by Henley at the dying moments of the game. The only cheerful moment of the game was return of the talisman Steven Gerard for Liverpool.



West Brom 0-0 Manchester City

Manchester City were unable to score in a Premier League game for the first time this season as West Bromwich Albion managed to hold the leaders to a goalless draw. The first-half saw David Silva miss one that could very well have been the winner, while Shane Long managed to miss a header in the second period that could have seen his side register a famous victory. Now the two Manchester Clubs are level at the top with a Goal differnce separating them.
