Bolton vs Arsenal Review: It might be all over this season for Arsenal

Last night, Bolton Wanderers took on Arsenal at the Reebok Stadium. The Reebok Stadium witnessed its biggest crowd of the season to see Bolton take on Arsenal. The away fans might have traveled to the Reebok hoping to see their side get a victory and keep their title hopes alive. But that was not the case, Arsenal as always dominated possession throughout the game. The ball was rarely seen in the legs of a Bolton player, so it was very hard to judge a Man of the Match. Bolton scored their first goal from a corner, when unmarked Gary Cahill bulleted a header which bounced of Nasri on the goal line and then was put in by the on loan Chelsea Striker Daniel Sturridge. That showed Arsenal's poor defending, to let free Gary Cahill, an obvious threat from set pieces. Arsenal still pushed on till the half time, but Bolton defended well to keep the score to 1-0 till the half time.

The second half started with a great drama, as in the 29th second of the second half, Johan Djorou gave away a penalty, fouling Daniel Sturridge in the penalty box. Bolton skipper Kevin Davies took a very ordinary penalty which was saved by Arsenal's talented young Goal Keeper Szczesny. Bolton paid the price after two minutes when Robin van Persie combined with Fabregas to score an equalizer for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger desperately needed a win, so he substituted his defensive midfielder Alex Song and brought on Chamakh, but he influenced a little. Robin van Persie created two chances for Samir Nasri, but he shot straight at the Goal Keeper on both the occasions, leaving Arsenal frustrated. To add to their misery, Bolton midfielder Tamir Cohen, who was absent from the Bolton side because of his father's death, nailed the coffin, scoring from yet another corner marking more defensive woes for Arsenal and securing 3 points for the Home side.

So to conclude, poor defending from set pieces led to Arsenal's defeat at the Reebok. If Gary Cahill, Zach Knight, Kevin Davies or Johan Elmander would have scored the second goal from the corner, then there might be an excuse for Arsenal as they are big and strong, but Tamir Cohen is a short man and not so powerful, and he was marked by Johan Djorou, so clearly a display of really poor defending. Arsene Wenger needs to bring in quality defenders if he aims to win a trophy anytime. As the commentator said during the match "Millions in the Bank, but not a single Quality Defender".

Arsenal are now 9 points behing league leaders Manchester United and 3 points behind 2nd placed Chelsea, with 4 games to go. Manchester United only need 7 points from their last 4 matches to secure the title.
